Final Project

Caitlin Jaynes and I created a video to show how to use glogster.  Glogster can be used in the classroom to create virtual posters and the children can learn how to use multimedia outlets.  This can really spark creativity in your children and classroom.
Narrator is Caitlin Jaynes and Controlling the computer is Brittney Jolly

C4K Comment summaries from November and Dec 5

11/7
This comment for kids was actually on a teacher and her third grade class.  Mrs. Yollis is a very good teacher to follow and I really enjoyed reading her post.  She gives very clear instructions and also she does a grammar check for every post which is good.   The post that I commented on was about her class making  a bread for Thanksgiving and writing to Mr. Turkey!

11/14

This was a blog post by Room 8 at Melville international School.  I got to comment on a students work in an art technology week art project.  His project was very good and he did a really good job in creating his art work.  I told him how much I liked his work and how good of a job he did.  I like how the teacher must approve the comments before they are put onto the post.  The last thing I told him was to keep up the good work and keep doing good in art.

12/5

I commented on  a young girl named Brianna and she was teaching us something about elapsed time.  She gave one example and it really showed the point of elapsed time and what it does.  She was clear in her explanation and example.  I told her that she did a really good job in giving a clear example and to keep up the good work.

11/21

This post was about an end of term self reflection and I commented on how the end of the term was like a squishy cookie.  This reminded me of how I feel about the end of this semester because by the end of the year you always feel like a squishy cookie or like your over done.  I commented how much I agreed with the post and how I liked the metaphor of the cookie.  The last thing I commented on was the goals that he set for the next trimester and how I wished him luck with completing all of his goals.

12/5

This comment was for Yasmine and it was a special assignment.  I commented on her post about her top five favorite desserts.  She listed some very yummy desserts and I commented on how I liked her top choices because two of my favorite desserts were listed.  She commented back and thanked us all for commenting on her post.  It was really neat to get a comment back and to be connected to someone that's different and younger.

Final report on PLN

I used symbaloo to organize my PLN and I found using this site really easy.  It wasn't hard to figure out once my roommate showed me how to use it and add websites.  I feel like this is something I could keep up with and add to when I come across something that may be helpful either for school or just for fun.  It puts everything at your fingertips pretty much and it's one click and your there.

C4T Teacher # 4 Summary Post

My teacher that I had to comment on was Ms. Bayda who is a teacher but not your average teacher.  She travels around the world teaching and learning from other cultures and people.  She said that she has been so grateful to be able to travel and see things that most people do not ever get to see.  The first post that I had to comment on was about her volunteered traveling around the world.  She got to help the children and work hard with them while she was visiting the countries.  She made a comment that work hard and play hard but keep your eyes open the whole time and I thought this was an amazing comment because it's so true and I will try to follow that.  The second post that I commented on was some of her pictures that she uploaded to show us the people and children she got to work with.  Her pictures were amazing and they really showed me how the other half of the world lives and that in america we really have it good.  Now that I have read her post and looked at her pictures it inspires me so much to get out there an experience things I may not be comfortable doing at first.

Blog Post # 13

I got to review the ALEX website and learn some things that I never knew about.  ALEX stand for Alabama Learning Exchange and it provides information to teachers about different technology and what is available to teachers.  My favorite thing that I played with a little bit is the lesson plan link and it lets you choose what you want your lesson plan to center around. It takes you to this site that explains every detail about a lesson plan that you get to choose.  I looked at the arts part of the lesson plans and it tells you how to incorporate the arts into everyday lessons.  It's got a podcast Treasury that allows you to view other podcast by different teachers around the world.
ALEX seems like a great resource for teachers of all experiences and I know that I will use this site now that I know about it.  I can use this to help me develop lesson plans when I am first beginning to do lesson plans and it will give me resources to use podcast in my classroom.  I really love this site and I can't believe that I didn't know about this site.  I will tell everyone that doesn't know about this site because it is so helpful and can really help a new teacher.  I lived in Louisiana for most of my life and I don't know if they have a site like this  but if the did it would really help the teachers over there and if they don't have a site like this I feel like this would be a good site for teachers every where and not just in Alabama.

Additional Assignment #5

I absolutely love Mr. Johnson and I find his writings amazing.  He is so funny and I love the metaphors that he uses with pencils.  Most people don't understand what he is trying to do when he talks about pencils because, I have had to comment on Mr. Johnson's blog I understand him.  At first  I didn't really get the concept of what he was doing but after reading more of his post I love what he is doing.  Pencils are so generic but what you can do and accomplish with the meaning of a pencil.  The pencil can represent so many things especially in learning and in the real world.  My favorite post is "Sketchy Portraits: 8th grade Identity and Pencils because it really tells you and explains what he is doing with the whole pencil metaphor that he uses.  I know that I will continue to follow his blog because it teaches so many different things in a really different way.

Progress Report on Final Project

My partner and I are going to be demonstrating on a smartboard  how to do a wordle and putting it in simplified form so that our future elementary classrooms will be able to understand and do a wordle.  The directions that Dr. Stange gave us for our wordle were very in depth and not really understandable for an elementary student, so we are going to simplify the directions and incorporate smartboard technology.

Watch this video on youtube and reflect on what your feelings are.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ILQrUrEWe8

I really liked watching this type of video and I know we have watched one similar but I really find that these videos really reach and teach us all something.  I learned that more people are using Internet and others means to get their media information and that newspaper printings are down really low.  More and more people are getting their information in a digital form and the traditional means of getting information on products are no longer the leading thing.   The thing that really got me was that mobile devices are the worlds primary Internet connection tool and I just find that amazing because I know that it's true because 85% of the time I am on my IPhone using the Internet for school or just browsing.  These videos are really mind boggling and since watching  them in this class I find myself looking for them on the Internet because they really teach us things that we may not have known about.

Teach Me Project

C4K Summary Comments 3-7

3:
I really enjoyed reading this blog because it gave you a perspective of how people in different areas of the world learn and work. The children were so much more advanced than I ever thought they would be. I commented on grade four and I really enjoyed reading this blog post.

4:
I had to comment on a student named Kyle. He was really honest and so were his blog post. The post that I had to comment on was about his school having a social and that he really enjoyed himself. I talked to him about how I remember going to socials when I was in school and that I loved being able to hang out with my friends outside of school. I also told him that he should enjoy things like that and keep his studies up.

5:
I had to comment on a young girl and her name is jacqui. The post that I comment on was about her plans for the holidays. She is planning on going to a sleepover and is really looking forward to it. She thinks that her mom is going to get her some hightops and she really didn't want it to rain so that her and her sleepover friends could play games outside. I commented back that I remember having sleepovers and how much fun they were. I also asked her how everything went and how she liked having a sleepover.

6:
I had a student named Payton and the blog post was about going to church and eating the bread and grape juice. Payton was telling a story about the time at church where the bread and grape juice was all that was being thought about. I really laughed when I read this post because I knew exactly how she felt the bread and grape juice really do go well together. So I commented on that saying how much I agreed and wanted to taste the bread and grape juice. I also said that making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was similar to eating the bread and grape juice. I think that out of all the comments for kids I really enjoyed reading this blog by Payton.

7:
This comment that I had to make was on Mr. Mcclung's world and he is a professor. I liked commenting on this blog because I learned a lot about different activities that I can do in my classroom or have my students do. He is very insightful and really easy to understand. I like how much he Incorporated videos in his blog post it made reading the post so much easier and I felt that I could do some of the projects and activities myself.

Blog Post #11

I loved watching this video with the first grade class. I think that first graders are super cute and they are brutally honest. Mrs. Cassidy is doing a very good job incorporating technology in the classroom. I feel like I can learn a lot from watching this video and it gives you very good ideas. These children are so young and to watch them interact with technology is great and they seem really comfortable. I love that the first graders are learning how to spell and read by using technology. It covers so many things that a normal classroom may not be able to cover. The children learn to use the Internet and they also learn everyday things that they need to be learning. I really liked how Ms. Cassidy uses skype in her classroom. She is able to talk to other professionals and gain advice from others. I like that she allows the class to communicate with other classroom and this really expands the knowledge of the children. They learn that there are others out there they may look different, sound different, or learn different. I think Ms. Cassidy is on the right track with allowing video games in the classroom. Some of the games can be educational and teach things that may not be taught in the classroom. The video game that allows you take care of dogs or cats teachers responsibility and that may be hard to teach each child that.

C4T summary post teacher number 3

Moving at the speed of creativity: Wesley Fryer

My teacher is a college professor in Oklahoma. He likes to post things about using the Internet and things his students are required to do to in his class using the Internet. One post was about the safety of using sites that require a login. He stressed that someone can hack into your accounts and know a lot about you without you ever knowing that someone is looking or reading things about you. He also stressed being careful when you are connecting to unknown Internet connections and if you are you should be using a commercial VPN service  to protect your self.  He explained about a site called Astrill and how he always uses it when connecting to unknown wifi connections.  His post about this topic was very informative and I didn't know anything about the sites that can ensure your safety.  I now know that I should use the sites to make sure that people don't hack into my personal information.

The second post was about an activity that he required his students to do.  He set his class up into different groups and made them use the flip camera's in a video scavenger hunt.  The videos were very interesting and well done especially using only the flip camera's.  He asked the readers to vote on which video they liked best so I choose to vote on the talking about stress video.  I really liked this one because the students interviewed other students about what causes stress in their lives.  The responses were very funny and I could really relate to some of the responses.
Overall I enjoyed reading this blog and found that some of his activities seemed really interesting and fun.  I wouldn't mind doing some of them especially the scavenger hunt.  His other post were really informative and I learned a lot from them.

Blog Post # 10

Morgan Bayda:

I really agreed with this blog post because I know when I am in a lecture class where all the professor does is talk I find it really hard to stay awake and stay focused.  I find that in smaller classes I am more awake and more in tune as to whats going on in class and I am more likely to participate in discussion or whatever may be going on.  I liked how she talked about blogging and classes similar to EDM because these classes and media's have really helped me in communicating and navigating on the internet.  Without EDM I would have never know all the different tools that are out there to help me in communicating on the internet.  I now know that the internet can really be a helpful thing and knowing how to work it the right way will really help me in the future.

Tom Johnson's Don't Let Them Take the Pencils Home

I am really familiar with Tom Johnson's post because he was my first C4T and I really enjoyed reading his blog post.  His post were always so interesting and informative but he always threw in some type of humor and lets be honest we all need humor in some parts when we are trying to read something that is required.  I think his drill and kill test is very interesting and children should be allowed to bring pencils home.

Two Questions That Can Change Your Life

My sentence is She changed the lives of hundreds of children by teaching them to love learning and be a life long learner thought great enthusiasm for teaching and seeing the lives of children change.

This video really makes you think about the things you have done and accomplished.  I know that I need to start asking myself if I was better today than yesterday because I never really sit down and think about my day and the things I'v done.

Additional Assignment # 3

I really enjoyed watching this video and I find Sir Ken Robinson very entertaining and to the point.  I really liked how he talked about having a degree is not always a guarantee that we will have a job when we finish school because now days your not guarantee anything even if you have a college degree.  I also agreed when he talked about education being designed for a different age because what may have worked in the 60's and 70's may not work in the twenty-first century so education should change as society changes.  The only thing that I really didn't agree with was the fact that he said there are smart people and not smart people because I believe everyone has the capabilities to be smart it's just that some people choose to make bad decisions and they choose not to apply themselves.  I feel that I can address the issue of making education fit into today's world and time and I would fight to have things upgraded and brought to the right century.  I really found the presentation very interesting and I would like to find out how it was done and to make more presentations like this one.  If I were to do something like this I would like to be the narrator and do all of the speaking.  If I couldn't be the narrator I would probably be the idea generator.

Blog Post 9

What I have Learned This year:

I loved reading this blog and thought that he was very insightful and easy to agree with. I know that going into education and becoming a teacher is very scary for me because like him I want to be perfect, which I know will not happen but I can try my best. I feel exactly like he did and I can really see where he was coming from especially when he talked about comprehension and really making sure that your students are learning and retaining what you are teaching.
I think the part about being flexible will really help me in the future because I can really see where he was coming from. I know that a lesson that is written on paper will not be the same lesson that is going to be taught because so many things can happen and kids tend to influence the way your going to be delivering the message and seeing that being flexible worked for him I know it will work for me. If I am flexible my classroom and students will come out better and more prepared.
I read the rest of the blog post and really felt connected to it because it gave some really great advice but the thing that I am going to really take away from it is the part about never stop learning. I feel that being a teacher you should always be a life long learner and it should never stop. Children can teach you so much if your willing to stop and listen. They may have a solution to a problem that you would have never thought of and that can help you later in other classes. I know that no matter what happens I will always be a life long learner.

Short Movie

TimeToast Timeline

Blog Post # 8

Richard Miller:  This is how we dream parts 1 and 2

I really found part one of this video okay and I felt like I knew a lot of what he was saying.  I grew up in a society that uses technology day in and day out.  The classrooms that I have been in since I was in school always had some type of technology.  The older generations did not have the means of using technology like we do and if they wanted some information they had to go to the library and look for it in a book.  They also had to hand write their notes whereas we are able to use our computers to take notes in class and this makes things a lot easier.  I think that technology has greatly helped out our society and will continue to grow day in and day out.

Part 2 of this video covers how technology is used around the world and how they use it to their benefits.  Technology can help someone find out things they didn't know were happening like wale watching and anything about science.  I think that if technology continues to grow like it is people around the world will have a better idea of how others live and work in other societies.

EDM310is Different

This is videos about different things we can do our personal videos on and I really enjoyed watching some of the video's.  We were asked to create a video on anything that we wanted to do and I choose to do a reading of a children's book to teach the alphabet and I really enjoyed doing this.  My favorite video that I watched was the "Chipper Series" I found this so true to college students because I know there are many times that I have waited to the last minute to do a project or do homework.  I only hope that my short movie is as good as the movie that I viewed and  I know that there is some much more I can learn. I also watched EDM 310 for dummies and found this video very entertaining and I actually learned something from this video.  I think any video on EDM 310 is very helpful and can help students to learn what to do.

Critiques of SmartBoards

I did not know that there were so many arguments about the use of smartboards in the classrooms.  I felt like the arguments were valid on both sides.  I have personally used the SmartBoards in some classrooms and in all honesty the kids knew how to use the board better than me.  I loved using the smartboards for many reasons but I guess the number one reason would be that it's interactive and lets the kids work with technology.  The second biggest reason that I like SmartBoards is that they are clean and you don't have to buy markers or chalk or anything to work with the SmartBoard.  I liked the teacher that had a blog set up to help in the use of smartboards and I think this will be very helpful for future teachers like myself.
The people who tend to hate the use of smartboards I feel like do not have to training in how to use them and they get frustrated because they don't know how to use them.  Some teachers are set in their ways and don't like change as big as a SmartBoard is and they refuse to learn how to use it because they don't believe in it.  I personally will be happy to use a SmartBoard in my classroom and teacher others how to use it.

Additional Assignment # 2

1.  If learners are motivated I do believe that they can teach themselves to some point.  I know that there have been times where I have had to teach myself and the only reason that I learned what I needed to learn was because I was motivated to learn the material.

2.  I think that if the kids are motivated they can learn and teach themselves some things but I think that they would not learn the correct way without some type of help or assurance.  I work at a daycare with pre-K kids and there are some who are motivated to learn to tie their shoes and if you try to help they tell you that they can do it but sometimes they do need help to remember how to do it.

3.   The conditions that must be met to me are the child or person must want to learn and want to succeed.  Without the want to succeed I feel like a motivated learner won't be able to teach themselves.  They may be motivated to learn the material but not to use that material outside the classroom where it would be needed to succeed.

4.   I feel like all time use on computers hinder some aspects of learning.  There are times where a computer is necessary to help someone learn but there are other times that physical work must be done in order to learn something.  A motivated learner needs both and needs equal time using hard work and computers to succeed.

5.    The question was not clear.

6.   If you have problems or questions they need to be answered by someone who knows the material.  A motivated learner needs to be able to ask questions  if they get stuck on something or stuck on a problem.  If  they don't want to ask questions or solve problems they are not going to succeed.

7.  I motivate someone to learn by being enthusiastic about what I am trying to teach.  If you don't have some kind of energy or excitement about what your teaching the students will pick up on you lack of enthusiasm about the subject and fail.  Be the motivator and be proud of what your trying to teach them so that they can be motivated themselves.

8.    I motivated to learn because I want to succeed in everything that I do.  I want to learn how to be a great teach and learn how to motivate my students.  If I show that I want to succeed my students will want to succeed as well.

9.   I don't think that anyone who is not motivated will learn.  If they don't care about learning then they won't be motivated to succeed.  Both motivation and succession go hand in hand, without one the other won't happen and I truly believe this.

10.   I don't teach myself all the time but there have been some times when I have had to teach myself.  There were some classes in high school that the teacher really didn't teach well and I had to teach myself the material.  I think that internet classes in universities require us to teach ourselves and sometime this works and sometimes it doesn't.  Some classes are easier to teach yourself and then there are those classes that it's almost impossible.

11.   A teacher is almost key in my learning environment and I need that teacher to motivate me.  If a teacher is not willing to teach me or wanting me to learn the material then I don't need that teacher to teach me and at that point I will teach myself.

12.    The most important thing that I learned was that motivation is a major role in teaching ourselves.  Without it what do we have  and why do we need to teach ourselves.

13.  How to motivate should be discussed because some future teachers may not know the correct ways to be a motivator.

Blog Post # 7

Randy Pausch's Last Lecture: Achieving your childhood dreams

This video was absolutely amazing and this man has left behind so much and will continue to help others by his lecture.  I was amazed at this young man's trial and tribulations that he had to go through and I didn't know that at the time that this was made he had only a few months of healthy living left in him.  I know how hard it is to work at something while your sick so I just couldn't imagine how hard this was for him.  This will always make you look up to him and what he has left behind.
I loved the talk about the brick wall and the way he described life and a brick wall.  I almost feel exactly how he felt about wanted something so bad and it seems like there is a brick wall there but the wall is there to keep people out who don't really want that something as bad as you want it.  It amazes me how positive his attitude is and that he can look at things from a totally different perspective.
I didn't know that in his lecture he wasn't really talking to students and colleagues but in reality he was leaving a message to his three children.  He left so much behind and reminded them how much hard work and perseverance's pays off.  He shared that all the tribulations and trails will help us prepare for what life has in store for us.  I really was moved by this video and would recommend this to anyone willing to watch if because this man is so inspirational.
I feel that this video will help so many people in their lives and it will leave behind something that his children will always be able to go to.  I only hope that in my life I can work towards having a positive attitude on different things like Mr. Pausch did.

A summary of my Progress with My PLN

I have downloaded and played with Symbaloo and Netvibes.  I really enjoyed learning about these websites and learning how to work with them.  I watched a  7th graders personal learning environment and really learned a lot from it.  I learned that being organized is a major key in developing a PLE or PLN and not only is it important but it's a necessity.  The document on how to develop a PLN is going to be really helpful as I developing my PLN.  I like that I can refer back to this document if I get lost or forget what I am doing.  The development of a PLN is going to be really interesting to me because I have never done it and I look forward to creating it.  The last thing that I am currently working on is developing my Twitter account and I should be done with that by tomorrow.

Summary post for C4T # 2

My Teacher number 2 was a Mr. Langhorst that teaches history in a eighth grade class in Missouri.  He was really interesting and his blog post were all about Mount Vernon and how he teaches it.  I commented on two post that were really similar the first post was all about his visit to Mount Vernon and how he used that trip to connect with his students.  He attended a seminar in which he learned all about George Washing and his business decisions and he also shared how he came up with a lesson plan to tie everything that he had learned together.
The second blog post I commented on was he described his time in Mount Vernon with pictures.  He said that he took over 900 pictures and was getting up at 5 a.m. to take more pictures.  He shared how he felt that Mount Vernon should remaining just as it is and be keep up to it's original form.  I really enjoyed reading and looking at his blogs and found he talks about Mount Vernon very interesting.

Blog Post # 6

1.  The Networked Student by Wendy Drexler

This video was very informative and I enjoyed watching it.  I thought that the connected student was very good and I think that it would help students to navigate the internet.  The connected student will have accessed to many different resources and it helps if you have a constantly absent student you can make that student a connected learner.  If they miss something in class they don't have to worry about falling behind because their project would be on the internet.  I feel that not having a textbook is a great thing because textbooks are what other peoples ideas are not what that particular students idea might be.  I like being a connected teacher and allowing my students to be connected.  They can teach others around the world about a specific topic and others can share their knowledge with that particular student.
I don't think that right now I am prepared to be a connected teacher.  I feel this way because I am still learning how to use the internet to my benefit.  There is so much out their that can help me and it just takes time to learn how to use it.  I feel that I would have to learn a lot more before I could become a connected teacher.  I want my students to learn by example so if I do not know how to work something or use something I don't want my student to be like that.  I would however like to continue to learn about all of the different resources out there so that when the day comes and I have a connected student or class I am prepared to teach that to my students.  I want to be able to use the internet to my benefit and use all of the resources out there.
I think that it would be very interesting to see how middle school students would react to this type of learning.  I feel that they would react badly at first but as they learned how to do things they would really enjoy this type of learning.  Some students learn differently and they don't like change but if you throw a computer in they seem to change.  Now days our world revolves around computers and all the things you can do on it, so I think students would react very well to this type of learning.

2.  A seventh grader's personal Learning Environment

I really liked watching this video on a students PLE because it gave me insight into how a student learns.  Her video was very informative and I learned a lot from it and it was very well put together.  I didn't know that you could do so much with a PLE and now that I do my PLN I have some things to consider putting into my PLN.  I liked all of her use of the different websites and she really used them to her benefit.  I think that the fact the this was done by a seventh grader is amazing.  She was very organized and also very knowledgeable about the different ways to use the internet.  I hope that my PLN is as organized as her PLE was.

3.  The Machine is Changing Us by Michael Wesch

I liked how honest this guy was and he didn't sugar coat anything.  He said something to the extent of we think that we are all that or the next american idol and then we find out that we are not at all. Once we find out that we are not all that we are shocked so we then turn to the media.    He talks about how we use the media to our benefit we use website such as youtube to truly express our feeling and thoughts.  It is very interesting that we get to know things about complete strangers through such types of media like YouTube.  How many people do you know that has posted a video to YouTube saying something about themselves or what they like.  I know personally several people who have posted numerous videos to YouTube.  I don't think that YouTube is a bad  way to share things with other people around the world.  I think that students can benefit from using YouTube to connect with other students around the world.  I think that as technology grows we lack in personal communication or face to face communication.  Students now days are getting so accustomed to using the internet to connect with others that we are forgetting the face to face ways to communicate.  The use of technology is not a bad thing but I wouldn't want my students to rely soley on that to communicate.

Summary Post for C4K comments 1 and 2

My comment for kids was on a girl names brittnee and we seemed to have more than our names in common.  Her first post that I commented on was the about me post and I found out that she is 13 years old and from Las Vegas.  She told us about her likes and dislikes and I commented what things I found that we had in common.  We had number one our names in common and she has moved a good bit in her life time as have I.  I told her that I enjoyed reading her about me and wished her luck in her class.  The last post that I commented on was her Learning Manifesto.  This was three things that she wanted to improve this year in her classes.  I commented that I agreed with her list and gave her some reasons why those things are important.  One thing that she wrote was that she wanted to get better at waking up early and I said that I would try to do the same thing because I am not a morning person.  I felt that I really asked questions and gave positive comments to help her.  I really enjoyed connecting with someone from a different state and background.

Blog Post # 5

1.  The benefits of podcasting in the classroom by Joe Dale

I agreed with the benefits that Mr. Dale explains about using podcasting in the classroom.  It's a way to reach you students at home or reach them if they cannot reach you.  If a student has a question about something that was study in the classroom a podcast might help to refresh the memory of that student.  I also liked that he commented on distant learning activities for absent students.  Podcast would be great for students who miss a lot of school due to an illness or family death or some unseen tragedy.  It would give them the same work and learning that the other students get in the classroom.  The last thing that really caught my eye was that parents could see what their child is doing and learning in the classroom.  This would be good because some parents are clueless as to what is going on in the classroom and by having a daily or weekly podcast it gives them a chance to see what the students are learning.  It can also help the extremely strict or worried parents so they know exactly what is going on.  This gave me some great ideas about using podcast in my future classroom.

2.  100 ways to use your iPod to learn and study better

These few tips and tools really helped me to understand what a podcast is and what it can do.  I really liked the soundwalk because with this you could create a virtual field trip that your students can do at home or during class.  The philosophy talk program that you can find on iTunes and save podcast I really found neat.  This program could help in the classroom by allowing you to find different podcast that you could show your class and save the podcast for later use.  I think that using different podcast by different people could really help in the classroom and there are so many places that you can go to get podcast.  The last thing that I looked into was the Education Podcast Network.  This was a really great site with lots of different podcast.  I liked that it was broken down by different subjects and grade levels.  This would help in preparing  me for using podcast the right way in and out of the classroom.  I could use some of the podcast in my own classroom.  I like that there are different tutorial on using different technology in the classroom for example the SmartBoard.  There is a podcast on how to use the smartboard and I can always go back to that podcast if I have questions.

3.  Judy Scharf Podcast Collection

I used this website when doing my podcast and it really helped me out.  This website gives you timelines and definition on what podcast are.  I like that it gives you suggestions on what you could do podcast on so that if your just drawing a blank you could come to this site get and idea and get tips to succeed on the same website.  I liked that she had a criteria sheet that she used when giving her students the podcast assignment and it can be used in doing a regular podcast or podcast that we had to do in this class.  I could use this website in my classroom and use the rubrics and information to adapt to my classroom.  I really enjoyed looking through this website and using some of the information in my own podcast.

Blog Post # 4

1.  Don't teach your kids this stuff. Please by Scott McLeod

I really liked reading this blog post because it uses and unconventional way to teach how important technology is.  At first I was confused about his intentions but once I kept reading I understood what he was trying to do.  We all know that when our parents or friends tell us not to do something at some point we do it.  We do it out of curiosity.  So by him telling his parents, students, administrators not to read this he knows that at some point they will read it and they will understand what he is trying to do.  I agree in his way of teaching and going about it the way he did.  Scott McLeod is an associate professor of Educational Administration at Iowa State University and the director of the UCEA center for the advanced study of technology leadership in education.  He also is the co-creator of the "Did you Know" videos.

2.      The iSchool Initiative by a high school senior

I thought this video was okay but I didn't' totally agree with it because I feel that it may affect students differently.  I liked the idea of using the iTouch in the classroom to replace heavy books but I don't think it should replace creativity.  By having everything on this iTouch  like maps I feel that it wouldn't spark creativity and allow students to physical place or color something on a map. Although I disagree with some things that this high school student stated there are somethings that I do like.
I like that it will give the students resources that may not be available in a hard copy.  I also think that by having this type of technology in the classroom it will motivate students to want to learn how to use technology.  I agree about having certain things in the classroom be on this iSchool initiative but I would modify mine to fit my classroom.  I like the idea of being able to record lectures or lessons because some students may get better grades by hearing what they learned again.

3. The Lost Generation

When I first watched this video I was confused because it seemed so real and so truthful. When I got to the end I realized that it was being read backwards.  I like this type of learning and it defiantly is an attention getter.  I wanted to keep listening and trying to figure out what was going on.  I feel like it is a wake-up call and will grab your students attention.  The techniques in this video are great they grab your attention and keep which is sometimes hard to do especially for me.

4. Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir

I really found this interesting and amazing.  People from all over the world are connecting in so many different ways.  The Internet is one of the fastest growing ways that people are connecting and this shows how much we all have in common.  I found that these people never met and never knew each other yet they all knew the words to the song.  The use of Internet in this virtual choir is mind blowing it uses so many different aspects of the Internet and ways you can use technology.
